How Can I Fix My Cell Phone - It Got Wet
Ever ran into a body of water with your phone in your pocket?
I have witnessed this many times. It is a common mistake that almost everyone makes at one point in their life. Cell phone manufacturers have gotten so technologically brilliant with their designs that they have made it harder for us to remember that we are carrying their products.
If you are one of the unfortunate and have ruined your cell phone in a body of water I may be able to help. This method has worked for me in the past, but I cannot guarantee it will work for you.
First the phones battery must be removed. Do NOT attempt to power the phone on while it is wet. It will only cause even worse damage.
Once the battery is removed the phone will need to be dried out. If the phone was dropped in salt water, (yes the one who had a little to much to drink and fell overboard cell phone in hand) the salt water must be rinsed out and then proceed to drying. I recommend using compressed air. If no compressed air is on hand then grab a hair dryer and use the cool air to blow out as much water as possible.
After you have blown out as much water as you can you will then want to place your phone in the oven, on 175 F for 4-5 hours. (Remember, don't put the battery in for this step it may be dangerous.)
Once your phone is done cooking take it out and replace the dry battery, if you bought a new battery even better. At this point you may or may not try to power the phone up. I recommend plugging it in to the charger for a while to get a full charge and then power it on.
This works 90% of the time if you catch the phone before its too late. If this doesn't work for you then you can always buy a new cell phone. I run a small web site that has the best deals on the net for the latest phones.
